JAKUB STOŻEK’S DOCUMENTARY WON THE PRIZE IN UKRAINE

Docudays UA in Kyiv is a non-political and non-profit festival devoted to documentary films related to  the matter of human rights. The main purpose of the Festival is introducing and popularising an open dialogue on moral problems in society, human rights, understanding of human dignity as the supreme value, as well as creating the democratic base for dialogue which effects will be prominent for the future.

At the eighth edition of Docudays UA Polish documentaries were presented in a quite a large number of titles. What is more, one of them – Out of Reach by Jakub Stożek – won Special Prize from the National Union of Cinematographers of Ukraine. It is the second time this year after the success at Sundance Film Festival, when Stożek was given the Honorable Mention.

Out of Reach along with other Polish film – The Work of Machines by Michał Mądracki, Maciej Mądracki and Gilles Lepore – was screened in the ‘Art Competition’. A large number of Polish documentaries were presented in the non-competitive programme. Two films directed by Marcin Koszałka were shown in frame of Docudays Special Screenings: Let’s run away from her and Till it hurts. Moreover, one of the Polish film festivals called ŻubrOFFka prepared a special programme for Docudays UA including the following films: Slowly by Tomasz Wolski, Rogers – The Puppeter by Krzysztof Kiziewicz, The Invisible by Katarzyna Gondek, The Trip by  Bartosz Kruhlik, Bottoms up by Maciej Głowiński and Apostasy by Bartosz Tryzna. What is more, Gugara by Andrzej Dybczak i Jacek Nagłowski was chosen as the festival closing film. Docudays UA was held from 25 to 31 of March.
