… NOT ONLY IN ZAGREB – „CHARCOAL BURNERS” SUCCESSED AGAIN

The last weekend occured to be amazingly successful for Piotr Złotorowicz and his documentary etude “Charcoal Burners” – the film was awarded at two festivals: in Zagreb as well as in New Mexico!


On Saturday 5th March “Charcoal Burners” by Piotr Złotorowicz was received the “Little Stamp” Award – in the same time repeating the success of Wojciech Kasperski’s “Chasm”. What is more,  Sunday was ended with its triumph at the festival  Taos Shortz in New Mexico, USA, where the film by Złotorowicz was considered as the best documentary. The director received the prize in person.


The film “Charcoal Burners” was produced by National Polish Film School in Łódź. This is a story about Marek and Jan­ina who work every sum­mer in the Bieszczady moun­tains mak­ing char­coal. The documentary depicts the simplicity and calmness of their world, an extract of their unhurried life surrounded by wildness of nature. We observe the protagonists during their everyday activities, far from civil­iz­a­tion, in the midst of the moun­tains fol­low­ing the rhythm dic­tated by nature.


During upcoming weeks “Charcoal Burners” Piotr Złotorowicz will be screen at: Washington DC Independent Film Festival, REGARD - Saguenay International Short Film Festival (Canada), GO SHORT International Short Film festival in Nijmegen (the Netherlands), 8. WorldFilm Festival in Tartu (Estonia) and International Short Film Festival Cortisonici (Italy). “Charcoal Burners” will be also shown at the goEast Film Festival (Germany) and IndieLisboa (Portugal).
