THE FIRST AWARD FOR “FLORA AND FAUNA”

The 17th edition of the Ismaila International Documentary and Short Film Festival in Egypt ended on Sunday evening. Just like last year, among the award-winners there was a Polish film - "Flora and Fauna" by Piotr Litwin.

Within the frames of this year's edition of the festival, the Egyptian audience and festival guests had an opportunity to watch as many as four Polish films. Apart from the aforementioned "Flora and Fauna" by Piotr Litwin, also the film "Killing Auntie" by Mateusz Głowacki was invited to participate in the short fiction film competition. At the same time, "A Visit" by Matej Bobrik competed for the laurels of the documentary film competition, and "The Baths" by Tomek Ducki - in the animated film competition.

Finally, the award for the best fiction short went to "Flora and Fauna" by Piotr Litwin. It is the first foreign award for the graduate of Lodz Film School. The jury decided to present the film with the Golden Tablet award in recognition of its insightful and disturbing portrayal of sexual abuse and its powerful performance. The graduation film by Litwin had its premiere in January at the film festival in Trieste, and later this month it will be shown at the Portuguese festival Fest in Espinho, while in July it will participate in the programme of the Austrian festival Alpinale.

It is worth mentioning that it is another success of the Poles at the festival in Ismaila. At the last year's edition, two Polish films, "Toto" by Zbigniew Czapla and "Danse Macabre" by Małgorzata Rżanek were awarded in the animated film category.
