POLISH SHORT FILMS IN BULGARIA

The 12th edition of the International Short Film Festival In the Palace started on Saturday, 28th June. In the competition, there are four Polish films, whereas in the non-competing programme the viewers will see two special screenings of Polish films.

Polish films are selected for the programme of the Bulgarian festival every year.  In the international competition of the 12th  edition of the festival, four Polish films will compete for the awards: "A Visit" by Matej Bobrik, "Toto" by Zbigniew Czapla, "The Heat" by Bartosz Kruhlik and "Where I Can't Be Found" by Arjun Talwar. This year's programme, features also a screening of animated films from the catalogue of Krakow Film Foundation. Among ten films which the viewers will see there are the award-winning "Millhaven" by Bartek Kulas, "Ziegenort" by Tomek Popakul - the most popular animation last year or the début animations by Piotr Szczepanowicz ("The Railway Watchman") or Przemysław Adamski ("Noise") as well as school films - the famous "Ab Ovo" by Anita Kwiatkowska-Naqvi and "What Happens When Children Don't Eat Soup" by Paweł Prewencki.  The screening will be held on Monday 30th June at 9 p.m.

The second Polish screening is the programme prepared by Filmowe Podlasie Atakuje.  Within the frames of this section, one could watch, among others, the animation by Ewa Borysewicz, entitled "Who Would Have Thought?" and music videos for the songs "Pirate's Life" by We Cut Corners (made by the duo Kijek/Adamski) and "Strange is this country" by Pink Freud (made by Maciek Szupica and Przemek Adamski). 

Within the frames of this year's section "Spotlight on," the audience and festival guests will also see films made in Portugal, Hungary, Lithuania, Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, Latvia and the Czech Republic. Also, festivals such as the Beginning festival, RIFF and Animatters have been invited to participate in the festival and prepare a short programme.

In the Palace festival has been held annually since 2003 in the city of Balchik on the coast of the Black Sea and presents short films - animated, documentary and feature films - no longer than 27 minutes.
The festival ends next Friday.
