“LAST TRAIN” BECOMES A TWO-TIME WINNER IN PETERSBURG

On 16th September the tenth edition of the Open St. Petersburg Student Film Festival Beginning came to an end. “Last Train” by Weronika Tofilska received two awards – for the Best Fiction Film and the Best Camera Work in recognition of Paweł Chorzępa’s cinematography.

“Last train” is a suggestive tale of a man who seeks a refugee from a depressive reality by retracing memories of his first adolescent love. Film was made on the third year of directing faculty at Krzysztof Kieślowski Radio and Television Department of the University of Silesia in Katowice. 

The second film that gained recognition at the festival was “Eight9” by Paweł Jóźwiak-Rodan that received the Diploma from the St.Petersburg Cinema Press Federation for the Most Promising Beginning.

 This year there were ten Polish student films shown in Petersburg. Apart from above mentioned award winners festival screened: “Normal people” by Piotr Złotorowicz, “Barbican” by Bartłomiej Żmuda and “Twist and Blood” by Kuba Czekaj, documentary “Screening at the Tatry cinema” by Igor Chojna and animated “Shivering trunks” by Natalia Brożyńska, “Chained by Corsets” by Barbara Szewczyk, “Traces” by Ewa Grzesiak and “Here and now” by Edyta Adamczak.


Festival was held between 10th and 16th September in Petersburg.
