Polish documentaries will compete for the Golden Frog

This year, for the first time, at the Documentary Film Contest „the Picture of the world” organised in the frames of Documentary Section of the International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography PLUS CAMERAIMAGE, under the patronage of Discovery Networks Central Europe, it was possible to submit applications for two temporal categories: short – and full-length one.

The jury, composed separately for each of the categories, will decide on who will receive Grand Prix - the Golden Frog award. Additionally, independently from the jury's decision, the Documentary Film Section's patron will for the first time in history give the statuettes of Discovery Networks Central Europe.

12 full-length documentaries have been qualified for the Documentary Film Contest, including „Yodok Stories” by Andrzej Fidyk. Fidyk's documentary will compete with films which have received awards at festivals such as Hot Docs,  Dok Leipzig, Krakow Film Festival or Silverdocs. These films include, among others, „Unmistaken Child", „Blind Loves”, “Burma VJ”,“Rene”.

 

The prize will be awarded by the jury, composed of:

     Lech Majewski( The Jury's President), director, scriptwriter

     Barbara Bilińska, Discovery Network Central Europe, Channel Director Poland

     Karl Walter Lindenlaub, photographer

     Lawrence Grobel, writer — the author of biographies of Marlon Brando, Truman Capote, Al Pacino, UCLA,  Los Angeles, lecturer

     Louis – Philippe Capelle, photographer

There are 22 documentaries in the Short-Length Documentary Film, including 9 Polish productions:
