„Take a Look” – the best film in Petersburg
At this year’s International Youth Film Festival in Sankt Petersburg the film “Take a Look” by Adam Palenta was given the best documentary film award.
The film’s protagonists, sightless children, take the viewer for a journey into their world of sensitivity and imagination, showing how they read off pictures using the sense of touch.
“Take a Look”, produced by Andrzej Wajda Master School of Film Directing, was repeatedly shown at festivals in Poland and abroad, where it won great acclaim from critics and the audience alike. It was also given the first prize at the film festival in Vilnius (International Youth Filmmakers Short Film Festival).
At this year’s Festival in Sankt Petersburg, films from over 20 countries were shown. From 6th to 11th October, young filmmakers had the opportunity to confront their own works with the output of directors from all over the world. The most important awards, apart from Palenta’s film, were given to films from Spain, Germany, Great Britain and USA.
Adam Palenta – cameraman and director, graduate of the documentary film at Andrzej Wajda Master School of Film Directing. At present he is finishing another documentary, devoted to a story of the Home Army soldier who was convicted during the times of Stalinism – this film is also produced by Andrzej Wajda School.
