POLISH ANIMATION WINS IN AUSTRIA

Short animation „The Sleepincord” directed by Marta Pajek won the Grand Prix of the International Tricky Woman Animated Film Festival that came to an end on 18th March in Vienna. The film was produced by Se-Ma-For Film Foundaton with the support of Polish Film Institute.

“Sleepincord” is an ambiguous story of one particular dream. Marta Pajek’s film, drawn with a characteristic line develops in three layers of meaning: abstract, dreamlike and realistic. It beguiles and continually spurs the viewer to look for the answers to the questions of mutual relations between the worlds presented. The allusion to the umbilical cord in the title suggests that the dream is the only way to connect us with the reality that is beyond our reach.

Marta Pajek is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. “Sleepincord” is her professional debut, for which she has been awarded the Grand Prix of 18th Etiuda and Anima in 2011 and second prize of the Se-Ma-For Film Festival.
