This year, the festival's special event will be the retrospective of documentary films by Marcin Koszałka. The audience in Italy will have a chance to see also some short documentary films by the director: "All Day Together," "The Declaration of Immortality," "Till It Hurts" and feature-length productions. The screening of the films will be accompanied by a master class given by the director  - "In conversation with Marcin Koszałka," during which he will tell about his work as a director and cameraman. It is worthwhile to mention that the feature-film début by Koszałka, "The Red Spider," was included in the Main Competition at this edition of the festival.

27th edition of Trieste International Film Festival will also include screenings of full-length Polish feature films. In the special section "The Double Life of Polish cinema," the film "11 Minutes" by Jerzy Skolimowski will be shown, as well as Krzysztof Kieślowski retrospective, connected to the Year of Krzysztof Kieślowski, celebrated in 2016, twenty years after his death. In Italy, the film "Demon" by Marcin Wrona will also be shown.
