"I’M HERE" WITH YET ANOTHER GRAND PRIX AWARD

This time, Julia Orlik’s animated film was recognised by the jurors of the Etiuda&Anima festival. The film won the international ANIMA competition, and also received one of the most important awards in the Polish competition.

The International Film Festival Etiuda&Anima is the oldest film festival in Poland, which puts the achievements of film and art school students from around the world as well as the works of artistic animation creators – professionals, students, and independent producers – against each other. This year’s edition of the festival was held entirely online.

The core of the festival involves three competitions: ANIMA PL, ANIMA, and ETIUDA. In the first one, the Golden Jabberwocky (for best student animated film) went to Julia Orlik’s “I’m Here”, while Natalia Spychała’s “Marbles” won the Bronze Jabberwocky, and Marcin Wojciechowski’s “backstage_episodes” received a special mention.

In turn, Julia Orlik’s film won the Grand Prix award at the international ANIMA competition.  The winning film tells the story of an elderly man who is looking after his paralysed wife. Despite his old age and own health issues, he tries his best to alleviate her suffering, which is getting more severe every day. He is aided by his daughter, who tries to reconcile the care given to her mother with her own work at the hospital and her personal life. Each of them has different views on how the woman should be looked after, which leads to many arguments.
