YET ANOTHER AWARD FOR JERZY KUCIA'S FILM

On Saturday, the 21st of November, Animated Dreams revealed the winners of this year’s edition during an official closing ceremony. One of the awards of the Estonian festival went to "Fugue for cello, trumpet and a landscape" by Jerzy Kucia.

The international jury, composed of Emma de Swaef (Belgium), Tsvika Oren (Israel) and Kalju Kivi (Eesti) watched forty films that made it to the competition. The award for the Best Sound went to the "Fugue for cello, trumpet and landscape" in recognition of Michał Kosterkiewicz's work.

Jerzy Kucia is back after thirteen years of silence with this meditative story in the form of a poetic film based on a relationship between images and music. The film shows the process of evoking feelings and searching for landscape specificity by recounting events which have taken place in the scenery.

Three Polish film were selected to take part in the competition of this year's Animated Dreams. Apart from the film by Jerzy Kucia also two films by the students of Polish National Film School in Łódź took part in the competition – "Don't loose your head" by Karolina Specht and "Of a forest" by Katarzyna Melnyk.

It is worth to add that the programme of the festival featured also a 60 minutes long screening of the films by the students of the Fine Arts Academy in Krakow. The programme was selected and presented in Talin by Robert Sowa, who runs the Animated Film Studio. Eleven films formed the programme including "Where would the ghosts go" by Łukasz Biernat or "Drought" by Sara Divjak.

Talin based Animated Dreams is the oldest running and the biggest Estonian festival devoted exclusively to animated film. In 2001 in parallel with the 70thanniversary of Estonian animation, the first ever competition programme for animated shorts was launched and an international jury was introduced. For the last four years Animated Dreams is accompanied by the AnimaCampus Tallinn - an international networking and training event for young animated film professionals. This year's 17th edition was held between 18th and 22nd November.
