POLISH ANIMATED FILMS IN ANNECY

Today the programme of 39th edition of Annecy International Animation Film Festival was revealed. Among the films that are to screen as a part of the competition stand four Polish animations. This year's edition of the festival will be held between 15th and 20th June.

The number of films submitted to Annecy Festival this year broke the previous records and reached the number of 2606 films produced in 95 countries worldwide. Today the festival’s artistic director – Marcel Jean – announced the results of the selection carried out by his team for the last few months. In result 198 short films were invited to screen in four competitive sections as well as a noncompetitive one. Selected films will compete in the following categories: short films, TV films, commissioned and graduation films while the best among them will be awarded Crystal Awards.
 
This year's competitive will feature the latest animation by Jerzy Kucia – "Fuge for cello, trumpet and a landscape". The film will compete with 52 titles made all over the world that were chosen to screen as a part of the competition. Since its premiere at Hiroshima Animation Film Festival last year the newest film by Kucia screened at  eight festivals and received five awards.  

Izabela Plucińska will also screen her latest film as a part of te very same competition. Her "Sexy Laundry", that was made in clay, is a story of a couple who spends a weekend in a ridiculously chic hotel, looking for a bit of adventure to light a spark in their relationship after 25 years of routine in the bedroom. The animation is a coproduction between Poland, Germany and Canada. Plucińska screened her previous film "Darling" in Annecy two years ago. 

There will be also a Polish hint in the graduation film competition where Karolina Specht – well known by the festival's adience for her "An incredibly elastic man" – will screen her latest work entitled "Don't loose your head". Specht's film is a 2D animation that shows how easy one looses temper nowadays. The film will celebrate its international premiere in Annecy. Karolina Specht is a student of Polish National Film School in Łódź. 

The fourth Polish competitior received the invitation to screen as a part of the TV films competition. "It's quite true!" by Joanna Jasińska-Koronkiewicz was produced by TV Studio of Animation Films in Poznań as a part of the "Paint me a fairy-tale" series. Film that was made in the painting animation technique is a funny but true story of a certain rumour. 13 minutes long animation is an adaptation of Andersen's fairy tale. 

Annecy International Animation Film Festival is one of the world's top festivals screening animation films. 

Just like last year a delegation of Polish animators and producers will be present at the MIFA market that is held within the festival. It is for the fifth year now that the Krakow Film Foundation supported by the Polish Film Institute organizes  the national Polish Animations stand. Poland will be one of 60 market exhibitors.

The list of the films selected for the feature lengh competition will be announced by the end of April.
