POLISH FILMS AWARDED IN ESTONIA

Andrzej Cichocki's “A Little Bit of Paradise”, Martyna Peszko's "Tell Me more" and Adam Buka's :Comet" received awards at the 35th edition of the Pärnu International Film Festival.

Pärnu Film Festival is the oldest such event in the Baltic States. The festival includes a total of five competitions: Estonian films, documentaries for children, art, music, and an international film competition.

Traditionally, the program of the Estonian festival includes Polish productions, “Tell Me More” by Martyna Peszko, “Rust” by Rafał Małecki and the awarded “Comet” by Adam Buka and  “A Little Bit of Paradise” by Andrzej Cichocki were all invited into their respective contests.

Film by Martyna Peszko is a directors private story. Her mother is bedridden. Once a year, when Barbara's husband goes on vacation, the person responsible for taking care of her becomes her daughter - Martyna (36). She cooks, feeds, cleans and nurses her mother. Because of the loss of muscle control, Barbara is only able to communicate by moving her eyes. She looks left for "yes" and right for "no". Letter after letter Martyna deciphers words, sentences, and meanings. They both long very much for those conversations sensing that the end is near.

"Comet" is an intimate story about five siblings from the Warsaw block of flats. Life filled with fairy tales, kids’ daily routine, cherry pit spitting on the balcony. Impatient awaiting the new family member. A story narrated from the child’s point of view illustrates the value of parental love, focusing especially on the stage of growing up when mom is the center of the child’s universe.

In Turn, "A Little Bit of Paradise" which received the award for Best Children's Film tells a story on the borderline between realism and fairy tale. It's about a Silesian family which – in an out-of-the-way corner of a metropolis – reveals its world to the viewer and shares moments from their lives, inextricably linked with the nature that surrounds them.
