"DEER BOY" WINS EUROPEAN SHORT PITCH

At the beginning of March, in Luxembourg was held European Short Pitch. As many as four Polish projects participated in the event (one of them in the work-in-progress section), and the production "Deer Boy" by Katarzyna Gondek was awarded during the pitching.

One of the main aims of European Short Pitch is to make it possible for European directors and producers to co-produce short films. So far, European Short Pitch included scriptwriting workshops and co-production forum. Beginning with 2016, a new part was added to ESP: pitching of 'work-in-progress' projects, organised in co-operation with C3PM - Paris Courts Devant  and Espera Productions.

The pitchings were held from March 2 to 6, in Luxembourg, within the frames of Luxembourg City Film Festival. The projects were presented to a group of 55 short film industry specialists - producers, representatives of institutions financing film production, distributors, etc. The first day of the event was devoted to the training of pitching techniques, and then, the proper pitchings were held, as well as individual meetings.

In the main pitching, three Polish projects participated: "Deer Boy" by Katarzyna Gondek (Belgian co-production), "From the soil" by Ola Jankowska (French co-production) and "Ondine" by Tomasz Śliwiński. However, among four films selected to the 'work-in-progress' pitching, there was the Polish project: "Volte" by Monika Kotecka and Karolina Poryzała.

The best projects shown during the pitching were awarded production grants. One of the winners is the project "Deer Boy" by Katarzyna Gondek, produced by Centrala Film and Bekke Films. The short feature film is a tragicomic story of a boy, a hunter's son, who is born with horns.
