“THIS WILL NOT BE A FESTIVAL FILM” WINS HONORABLE MENTION IN PORTUGAL

The FEST | New Directors, New Films festival concluded in the Portuguese town of Espinho on 26 June. The festival's jury decided to award Julia Orlik's This Will Not Be A Festival Film.

The FEST | New Directors, New Films jury – composed of Paulo Peralta, Lucy Brown, and Lucas Elliot Eberl – gave Julia Orlik's film an Honorable Mention for having “a personal and unique perspective reflecting on what it means to be a filmmaker, blending home video and animation”.

This Will Not Be A Festival Film is Julia Orlik's graduation film made at the Łódź Film School. It's a film about film revolving around a film school student working on her graduation project, which – just like Julia Orlik's previous works (I'm Here, My Strange Older Brother) – uses stop-motion animation.

The FEST | New Directors, New Films festival, which focuses on student films and debuts, saw its 19th edition this year. The festival prides itself on its large program of industry events with pitches, training sessions, industry meetings, etc.
