“VYRAJ” WINS IN CHINA

The film by Agnieszka Nowosielska gets another award. This time, it delighted the jurors of the student competition at the Macau International Short Film Festival in China.

Macau International Short Film Festival has been held since 2010. The event brings together cinema and music enthusiasts. Its program includes both short films and music videos, which translates into two main competitions: SHORTS (with short documentaries, animated, and live action films competing in their respective categories) and VOLUME (for music videos).

This year, the jury of Andra Tévy (France), João Francisco Pinto (Portugal/Macau), and Jay Lei (Macau) decided to award the Polish short fiction film. The title of the best student film went to Agnieszka Nowosielska from the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School in Katowice.

The protagonist of the awarded Vyraj is Weronika, who had been living a quiet and idyllic life until she learned about her father's illness. Suddenly, the world around her cries out for attention and reality slips out of control. While playing with his friends, her son Pietrek experiences something that makes him believe he possesses healing powers. Is it possible that the boy could improve his grandfather's health?
