ANIMATOR: International Animated Film Festival is a festival which qualifies for the Academy Awards. It is the largest cultural event in Poland, dedicated to the animated film. This year, from among over a thousand submissions sent from 64 countries, among others, from Costa Rica, Cuba, Kuwait, Macao and Martinique, the selection panel, consisting of Agnieszka Kozłowska, Jerzy Armata, and Piotr Muszalski, selected 44 short films. In addition to the film screenings, there are also concerts, workshops and a very wide programme for the youngest viewers in store for the audience. What sets the festival in Poznan apart from others is its ubiquitous fusion of animation and music.

In the international short film competition, there are as many as seven Polish titles: "The Hunt" by Mateusz Jarmulski, "ACID RAIN" by Tomasz Popakul, "Idol" by Grzegorz Koncewicz and Marek Serafiński, "Year" by Małgorzata Bosek-Serafińska, "Story" by Jola Bańkowska, "Last Supper" by Piotr Dumała and the co-production "Portrait of Susanne" by Izabela Plucińska.
