POLISH SHORT FILMS AT THE FESTIVAL IN DENMARK

From among 1500 films sent in for the competition at the International Film Festival in Odense, which will take place from 23rd to 18th August, three Polish short films have been selected.

International  Film Festival in Odense, Denmark, offers not only film screenings, but also diverse kinds of accompanying events: conversations with authors, debates, workshops, as well as meetings enabling the participants to establish contacts conducive to the development of film projects.

During this year’s edition, 93 films will be shown in the international competition. Among the qualified ones, there are three Polish short films:

- “Hanoi-Warsaw” by Katarzyna Klimkiewicz

- “Significant Others” by Dara von Dunsen

- “The Lucky Ones” by Tomasz Wolski

The feature film by Katarzyna Klimkiewicz is a story about a young Vietnamese woman, Mai Anh, who manages to get to Poland via the green frontier and begins her journey to Warsaw, where not only her fiancé awaits her, but also better life and the possibility of making dreams come true. However, the journey through Poland is a road full of humiliation and violence.

“The Significant Others” by Dara von Dunsen, the graduate of The Leon Schiller's National Higher School of Film, Television and Theatre in Łódź, is a story about a girl, who lost in her dysfunctional dreams, fights with inflatable alligator and her husband.

The documentary by Tomasz Wolski paints, through the image of Register Office, a picture of our everyday life, but also – a picture of every person’s fate. Through micro-scenes we observe different stages of the relationship between a woman and a man.
