„FAVOURITE THING” FOUR TIMES AWARDED IN USA

On Saturday evening the 16th edition of American Lindsey Film Fest reached its end. At the closing ceremony as many as four awards went to narrative “Favourite thing” by Piotr Iskra.

The George Lindsey UNA Film Festival was founded by alumnus and celebrated actor and entertainer George Lindsey. Lindsey is well known for his regular roles on the former "Andy Griffith Show" and his many credits in television and the big screen, including episodes of "Twilight Zone," "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour," "Gunsmoke," and "M A S H." The festival, one of the few presented in a university setting, provides attendees with an exceptional lineup of free workshops, panels, quality film screenings, one-on-one networking opportunities and informal interaction among filmmakers and guests. Regional independent film festival is located on the campus of the University of North Alabama and various venues throughout the Shoals area.

On Saturday evening “Favourite thing” by Iskra scored the awards in four festival cathegories:  Best Professional Narrative, Best Actor for Mikołaj Strusiński, Best Actress for Joanna Nemirska and Best Sound Design for Piotr Żyła and Tomek Krzeszowiec to name just a few. These are the first awards for the film that was already screened at the festivals in Sofia, Petersburg, Kenya and Peru among the others. The screening at Lindsey Festival was it American premiere.

The film’s main protagonist - Igor - dreams of a beautiful toy but he gets a piggy bank instead. He initially dislikes the Piggy but it gradually becomes his friend as well as a sort of MacGuffin, thanks to which we are to discover Igor's inner world and know his parents from closer perspective. As a result of particular coincidence, the boy is surprisingly forced to make a dramatically hard decision… Film was based on Etgar Keret short story.

The festival was held between 28th February and 2nd March.
