POLES AT CARTOON MOVIE

This year’s edition of Cartoon Movie – a pitching of feature length animation projects and one of Europe's leading events for world animation cinema, will take off tomorrow in French Lyon. Among 56 projects that made it to the final pitching, three were submitted by Polish animation studios.

Every year Cartoon Movie becomes the platform for presenting the projects in four categories: concept, development, production and completed films. Thanks to this strategy producers bringing their projects to Cartoon Movie have a guaranteed access to the experts who can help them to execute their projects. Annually more than 700 guests from 40 countries attend the event as well as 200 buyers including 120 distributors. Since its creation in 1999 more than 185 projects presented in the pitching forum received the financial support reaching the sum of 1,3 billion Euro.

This year three Polish projects made it to the group of top selected projects. Two of them – “Fennec” directed by Agata Gorządek (prod. Animoon and Studio Spot) and „Mice on Strike” by Łukasz Kacprowicz and  Marcin Wasilewski (prod. Grupa Smacznego and Finnish Anima Vitae) – both on the stage of the concept, will be presented in 10 minute sessions. The third Polish project at the Forum -  “Tim and the Master” by Tomasz Leśniak and Wojtek Wawszczyk (prod. SPInka Film Studio, Swedish Happy Fiction AB, BreakThru Films) – now in development - will be pitched in 30 minutes session with the Q&A as well as individual meetings. Last year Poland was represented by two projects – “Pelican” by Magdalena Osińska and “Another day of life” by Damian Newow and Raúl de la Fuente.
