"ALL SOULS' DAY" IN CLERMONT-FERRAND COMPETITION

"All Souls' Day" by Aleksandra Terpińska will be shown in the Main Competition of the 35th International Short Film Festival in Clermont-Ferrand. The event takes place from 1 to 9 February 2013.

We know the results of the selection for one of the most important events on the world presenting short films. Polish production was among 79 selected films in the international competition. The film "All Souls' Day" by Aleksandra Terpińska was made at Krzysztof Kieślowski Radio and Television Faculty of University of Silesia and co-financed by PISF - Polish Film Institute. The film was shown earlier, among others, at the 60th International Film Festival in San Sebastian, as well as 37th Gdynia Film Festival, 20th Plus Cameraimage and 31st Koszalin Film Débuts Festival "Youth and Film."

"All Souls' Day" is a story of Lena, a young woman, who tries to find her bond with the family on her birthday, which falls on the first of November. Aleksandra Terpińska said in the interview for PISF on the occasion of the film's screening at the festival in San Sebastian: It is first and foremost a story about searching for a family, and this family does not necessarily mean mum and dad. We cannot always influence the way our life goes, and that is why it is important to have eyes and heart wide open to welcome what the fate brings us, instead of being angry about the world not living up to our expectations. In this sense, the main protagonist has to grow up and re-evaluate her world - even though it obviously would not be so easy for her.

It is worth mentioning that Polish films won important awards at several recent editions of the festival in Clermont-Ferrand. In 2009, "Luxury" by Jarek Sztandera got the Young Jury Award, in 2011, Marta Minorowicz was presented the Grand Prix of the Main Competition for her documentary "A Piece of Summer" and at this year's edition, "Frozen Stories” by Grzegorz Jaroszuk was appreciated by the Young Jury, which gave the film the Special Mention of Young Jury. This Polish film was chosen the best one out of 77 films in the International Competition, by the jury consisting of 5 young (from 18 to 26 years of age) short film fans.

The film "All Souls' Day" is represented by Krakow Film Foundation.
