„GLASGOW” RECEIVES AN AWARD IN CHINA

On 10th November the closing ceremony of 11th International Student Film and Video Festival (ISFVF) was held. That night the jury announced the best films of nine competitive categories. “Glasgow” by Piotr Subbotko was listed as one of them.

Beijing ISFVF opened on 3rd November. During the week of screenings the Chinese  audience watched 82 films made by talented filmmakers from all over the world. This year’s programme was composed of more than 900 entries sent to China from 30 countries. Poland was there too, having two films selected to the final competition lineup – above mentioned “Glasgow” by Piotr Subbotko and “Without snow” by Magnus von Horn. On Saturday’s evening the festival guests and viewers got to know the jury’s verdict. Short fiction by Piotr Subbotko was announced one of the ten best films of the festival chosen by the audience. “Glasgow” that was so far awarded nine times does nicely at international festivals. This month it will be also screened at Peruvian Fenaco-Lambayeque.

“Glasgow” was produced in frame of “30 minutes” programme by Munk Studio in co-production with Wajda School. The film tells a story of Damian, a teenage boy raised by a single mother, who believes that his father is a famous footballer playing for the Celtic Glasgow F.C. His dream is to visit him. In his everyday life he has difficulty finding a common language with his mother who is trying to make a new life for herself with a younger man. It is easier for him to get on with his pregnant friend, Monika, who is his senior by a few years. When the time comes, Damian will have to choose between his dreams and common sense, a consequence of his subconscious need to correct somebody else's mistakes.
