SHORT FILM FESTIVALS IN DECEMBER

Before the festivals go for a holiday break in December, Polish short films will manage to appear at several international screenings. Check out where you can watch Polish productions for the last time this year.

On December 1, in Bulgaria started the festival In The Palace, where following films are invited to the competition: the animated film "Woolen Cogwheels" by Bartosz Kędzierski, the feature film "Asshole" by Krzysztof Komander and the documentary film "The Last Trick" by Marcin Nowak. On the same day, in Brazil started the festival Mumia Underground World Animation Festival, at which you can watch "The Gentle Giant" by Marcin Podolec, "Creatures" by Tessa Moult-Milewska and "Gyros dance" by Piotr Loc Hoang Ngoc. In December, this animated film will be also shown at the festival Les Nuits Magiques in France and at Animateka in Slovakia.  There, a large representation of Polish films waits for the viewers: "The Shavings" by Agata Mianowska, "The Courtyard" by Grzegorz Wacławek, "Pencilless Case" by Magdalena Pilecka, "Pussy" by Renata Gąsiorowska, "Locus" by Anita Kwiatkowska-Naqvi, "Foreign Body" by Marta Magnuska, "Impossible Figures and Other Stories II" by Marta Pajek, "Black Volga" by Marta Wiktorowicz, "Super Film" by Piotr Kabat and "Black" by Tomasz Popakul.

Also at the beginning of December, the International Short and Independent Film Festival in Bangladesh is held, where the film "7 sheep" by Wiktoria Szymańska and the animated film "A Documentary Film" by Marcin Podolec appear. This film will be shown at BogoShorts in Colombia, too. There, the following films will also be shown: "Beside Oneself" by Karolina Specht, "A Piece of Summer" by Marta Minorowicz, "Snails" by Grzegorz Szczepaniak, "Football Brothers" by Marcin Filipowicz, "Last Season" by Sławomir Witek and "Before the Dawn" by Łukasz Borowski.

A couple of days later, at the festival in Baghdad, "Super Unit" by Teresa Czepiec will be shown, and in Iran, at the documentary film festival Cinema Verite  - "Second Life" by Eugeniusz Pankov. "America" is invited to the programme of the Short Film Festival Leuven, whereas in Romania at the festival Cinemaiubit, "Education" by Emi Buchwald, "Pussy" by Renata Gąsiorowska and "Adaptation" by Bartosz Kruhlik will be shown. This short film is invited also to the nine different festivals in December, e.g. Delhi International Film Festival in India, Kinoproba in Russia or Signes de Nuit and Poiters Film Festival in France.

Also the viewers of the Istanbul International Short Film Festival in Turkey will have the opportunity to watch Polish productions in December. There, the following films will be shown: "Object" by Paulina Skibińska, "Don't Lose Your Head" by Karolina Specht, "Asshole" by Krzysztof Komander, "Fences" by Natalia Krawczuk, "A Long Time Ago in Silesia" by Tomasz Proktowicz, "Signum" by Witold Giersz and "A Wake" by Wojciech Stupnicki.

In contrast, the second half of the month features screenings on two opposite edges of the world. "Marina" by Marcin Lesisz will go to China for the festival GZDOC, "Sto[n]es" by Marcin Giżycki will go to The Vision Fest Auckland in New Zealand, whereas "Beside Oneself," "Black" and "La etiuda" by Martin Rath will be shown at Bronx World Film Cycle in the USA.
