MARCIN KOSZAŁKA’S DOCUMENTARY IN KARLOVY VARY

In the beginning of July the 46th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival starts. Polish documentary – “Declaration of immortality” by Marcin Koszałka – will compete for the main prize.


„Declaration of immortality” is a portrait of Piotr “Mad” Korczak, the legendary mountaineer, discoverer of many innovative climbing techniques, the first one who considered climbing as a sport. Marcin Koszałka – as one of his old students – now asks questions about unavoidable end of his career, about the influence of his age, and also about the death and an attempt to cope with the awareness of the death.

Since the premiere at last year’s 50. Krakow Film Festival where „Declaration of immortality” was given the Audience Award and the President of the Association of Polish Filmmakers Award, Marcin Koszałka’s film has received several important prizes at international festivals such as: Silver Hugo Award for The Best Documentary or Silver Gentian at 59. Trento Film Festival in Italy.


It is worth to add that Marcin Koszałka attended the festival in Karlovy Vary in 2009 with his film “Till It Hurts” which at that time won the special jury prize.


This year’s edition of Karlovy Vary International Film Festival will be held between 1st and 9th of July.
