HOME SWEET HOME WITH MAIN PRIZE IN GERMANY
Agata Puszcz's film was qualified for the short film competition of the Biennal of Moving Image festival and was awarded the main prize by the jury.
The Biennale of Moving Image, usually held in Frankfurt am Main, has moved online this year due to the pandemic. The festival honors renowned artists and promotes new filmmakers whose road to the top has only just begun.
This year, the main prize (Best Short Film) went to Agata Puszcz for her film Home Sweet Home. The jury found that Puszcz's short "masterfully narrates the tension between outer high gloss and inner misery.”
The film Anatomy Lesson by Gabriela Federowicz was also included in the festival's short film competition.
Home Sweet Home tells the story of ten-year-old Olaf, who lives in a world where hiring family members and friends is common practice. For the right money, anyone can create the illusion of ideal happiness for themselves. When the Rent A Life company holds auditions at Olaf’s school, he doesn’t hesitate for a moment. He has every intention of taking part and being cast as a friend at a birthday party for a little girl from a rich family. It quickly turns out that the cost of taking part in the illusion is a high one.
