POLISH YEAR AT THE FESTIVAL IN CLERMONT-FERRAND

This year, Poland was chosen as the country to which the focus at one of the most prestigious short film festivals in the world will be dedicated. It is connected with special screenings of Polish productions and events focusing on the films from Poland.

This year, three productions will represent Poland in the competition sections at the festival in Clermont-Ferrand. In the international competition, there are: "Ricochets" by Jakub Radej, in turn, "The Little Soul" by Barbara Rupik and "Acid Rain" by Tomek Popakul qualified for the LAB competition. One of the films, shown within the frames of the festival opening, will be "Pussy" by Renata Gąsiorowska.

However, these are not the only Polish films shown during this year's edition of the Clermont-Ferrand festival. Within the frames of the Polish Focus, as many as 18 other short films will be shown: the animated films "Summer 2014" by Wojciech Sobczyk, "Domestication" by Sylwia Gaweł, "Portrait of Suzanne" by Izabela Plucińska, "Ovule" by Natalia Durszewicz, "The Other" by Marta Magnuska, "The Dogcatcher" by Daria Woszek, "The Easter Crumble" by Julia Kolberger, the feature films: "Fascinatrix" by Justyna Mytnik, "Milk" by Urszula Morga, "Tremors" by Dawid Bodzak, "A Few Simple Words" by Anna Kazejak, "Fidelity" by Iwo Swiłło, "Son" by Jan Wagner and "Larp" by Kordian Kądziela, and the documentary films: "Mother" by Jakub Piątek, "Our Curse" by Tomasz Śliwiński and "Charcoal Burners" by Piotr Złotorowicz. Another film, which will be shown within the frames of the Focus, is "Hot and Cold" by Marta Prus, who will sit on the international competition jury this year

Traditionally, at the film market accompanying the festival, there will be the national stall of the POLISH SHORTS, prepared by the Krakow Film Foundation. Accredited film professionals and guests from around the world, who visit the stall, will be able to get information about the latest Polish short films, get oriented on the festival market and get in touch with Polish film producers, sales agents and festival representatives. In Clermont-Ferrand, in addition to the representatives of the KFF Sales & Promotion, there will also be the authors of the films invited to the Polish programme and the representatives of the Polish Film Institute, the New Europe Film Sales, the Munk Studio, and the Film Schools from Warsaw, Lodz and Katowice, the Short Waves Festival, the Animator Festival, the Ale Kino! International Young Audience Film Festival, the Krakow Animation Center, the Animoon, the Polished Productions and the UISEL Studio.

Within the frames of the Clermont-Ferrand festival market, there will also be a market screening of eight new films from the Polish short film studios. The following films will be shown to the accredited film industry professionals: "Guilt" by Marcjanna Urbańska, "Hi, How Are You" by Michał Chmielewski, "Under the Sky" by Marta Skiba, "Red Light Train" by Alicja Kot, "The Crossword" by Jan Bujnowski, "Vitae Azilia" by Joanna Wapniewska, "Fat Kathy" by Julia Pełka and "Dog Days" by Zuzanna Grajcewicz.

A special highlight of this year's Clermont-Ferrand festival is also the exhibition of Polish film posters. Within the frames of this event, accompanying the Focus, the festival guests will have a chance to view the most highly appreciated Polish works which advertised films in recent decades.
