POLISH PROGRAMME AT THE ANIMATOU
This Friday starts the new edition of the Swiss festival Animatou. This year, Poland is the guest of honour.
The Animatou - International Animation Film Festival was founded in 2006 in Geneva. The festival promotes both local and international films. The organisers focus on original and diverse animated films. In the programme, you can find both classic productions as well as bolder, experimental films.
The core of the festival are the four main competitions. This year, 51 films are selected for the international competition, including as many as eight films from Poland. The following films will compete for the awards: "You Are Overreacting" by Karina Paciorkowska, "III" by Marta Pajek, "Bless You!" by Paulina Ziółkowska, "Tango of Longing" by Marta Szymańska, "Acid Rain" by Tomek Popakul, "Metro" by Natalia Krawczuk, "The Rain" by Piotr Milczarek and "Squaring the Circle" by Karolina Specht.
In addition to many new productions shown in the competition sections, there is also a place for special events, such as screenings of films made by the guest of honour. This year, Poland is such a guest.
In the special programme, the advertising slogan of which is "Beautiful Poland," there is a review of the most interesting animated films created in Poland. The audience will have a chance to watch "The Baths" by Tomek Ducki, "Signum" by Witold Giersz, "To Thy Heart" by Ewa Borysewicz, "A Documentary Film" by Marcin Podolec, "Summer 2014" by Wojciech Sobczyk, "Sexy Laundry" by Izabela Plucińska, "Dokuanimo" by Małgorzata Bosek, "Luke and Lotta" by Renata Gąsiorowska, "Shivering Trunks" by Natalia Brożyńska, "Sunshine and Water" by Wojtek Wawszczyk, "Casting" by Kacper Zamarło. "Dry Standpipe" by Wojciech Bąkowski, "Gyros Dance" by Piotr Loc Hoang Ngoc, "In Times of Krakus King" by Zenon Wasilewski, "The Lost Town of Świteź" by Kamil Polak and "Black Cap" by Piotr Dumała. Two films by the duo Katarzyna Kijek and Przemysław Adamski will also be presented: "Pirate's life" and "Shugo Tokumaru Katachi," as well as three productions by Janek Koza, such as "An Unforgettable Night," "The Stubs" and "Dogs." The viewers who particularly enjoyed the style of the competition animated films by Marta Pajek and Tomek Popakul will have a chance to watch their earlier films: "Ziegenort" by the animated film-maker and "Sleepincord" by the woman director. The section's curator is Aneta Ozorek.
This year's edition of the festival is held from the 4th to the 12th of October.
