POLISH SCREENING AT PRAGUE SHORTS
This evening, the 9th edition of Prague Short Film Festival kicks off. Even though no Polish films were selected for this year’s competition, there is a special section dedicated to Polish short films in the programme.
“Polish Shorts present” programme consists of five fiction films made in Poland after 2009. “Through Glass” by Igor Chojna - the only Polish film in the short film competition at the 2010 festival in Locarno will open the programme. Then, the viewers will watch “Drawn from Memory” by Marcin Bortkiewicz, invited to the Directors’ Fortnight section at the 2012 Cannes festival. Another film in the programme - 19-minute-long “All Souls’ Day” by Aleksandra Terpińska - has already been awarded seven times abroad, among others, at the festivals in Drama, Kiev or Cottbus. At the end, the festival audience will watch two films by the graduates of Łodź Film School: "Echo" by Magnus von Horn - the winner of numerous awards and Polish festival record-breaker of 2010, has already been shown in Prague during the fifth edition of the festival (in the international competition) and “Frozen Stories” by Grzegorz Jaroszuk - the film that won awards, among others, at the festivals in Locarno and Clermont-Ferrand.The first screening will take place today at 18: 30, and the other on Sunday at 15: 00.
The four-day-long festival includes 65 films, which will be shown to the audience in nine sections. In addition to three competition sections, the viewers of the Prague Short Festival will watch programmes devoted to Czech cinema and experimental films, among others. Apart from the “Polish Shorts presents” screening, the cinematography of Australia will be also presented within the frames of national cinema section.
