ANIMATED „NOISE” AWARDED IN SWEDEN

Last Saturday the 18th edition of Swedish Lund Fantastik Film Festival reach its end. Przemysław Adamski’s animation scored the top prize of the short film competition.

Festival in Lund is one of the most important film festivals devoted to fantastic cinema, whose authours, following the pioneer’s George Melies example, continue and enrich the creative tendency in filmmaking. The 18th edition of the festival featured two Polish short films: „The Wolf’s clothing” by Olga Kałagate and “Noise” by Przemysław Adamski. The last one – an animated “Noise” scored the Méliès d’Argent award for the Best Short Film. On delivering the verdict jury stated the following: “Noise” is an imaginative mix of realism and animation, visualising the unseen in a playful manner. A cinematic pop-up book for people tired of urban noise.

Film was made in frames of “Young animation” programme  executed by Munk Studio. Although Przemysław Adamski’s animation was already screened at more than 30 festivals, including such a prominent ones as Dok Leipzig, Clermont-Ferrand or Huesca FF, the award in Lund is the first international recognition for the film.

Festival in Lund is a part of The European Fantastic Film Festivals Federation (EFFFF) that associates 20 festivals spread all over Europe, Asia and North America that join the audience of 600.000 spectators. From 1996 the federation annually presents Méliès d’Or for the best film chosen from the laureates awarded at each of the associated festivals. The awards are presented both to feature and short films. The awarded films will be announced on 14th October at the closing of the 45th edition of the festival in Spanish Sitges. In a few days the animated “Noise” will also compete for the Grand Prix of the short film category.
