POLAND - A SPECIAL GUEST AT THE SPECIAL NORDISK PANORAMA AND FORUM

At the Nordisk Panorama film festival, which just begins, there are a lot of Polish features. Apart from a numerous representation of Polish film producers who come to the accompanying forum, the Scandinavian viewers will have a chance to watch some Polish documentary films, as well as listen to a lecture on the Oscar-winning "Rabbit a la Berlin."

Nordisk Panorama is one of the most important film events in Scandinavia. The festival happens every year in a different Nordic city. The previous editions took place in Aarhus in Denmark, Bergen in Norway, Malmo in Sweden, Reykjavik in Iceland. This year, Oulu in Finland is the festival's host. There is an accompanying event at the festival, namely the Nordisk Forum, organised by the FilmKontakt Nord, an institution uniting Scandinavian film branch. The main aim of Nordisk Forum is to facilitate branch contacts and cooperation possibilities of the Nordic countries with other European countries. Every year, one country from outside of Scandinavia is invited to the Forum. Previously, these were Great Britain and German speaking countries: Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

This year, thanks to the cooperation with Krakow Film Festival, Poland is a special guest at the Forum, and a delegation of Polish film producers is invited to Finland. During the panel called Producers meet Producers , which takes place on Sunday, 23 September, there will be an opportunity to show their achievements and new projects for the representatives of the following companies: Afilm, AMP Polska, Film Studio Kalejdoskop, Eureka Media, Telemark, Film Art Production, Endorfina Studio, Filmovar and Pokromski Studio. In addition, the "Dybuk" project, directed by Krzysztof Kopczyński, and produced by Eureka Media, was selected for the pitching. At "Producers meet Producers" there will be a presentation by the representatives of Polish Television, Polish Film Institute and Krakow Film Festival on the rules of the financing, producing and co-producing as well as distributing documentary films in Poland. The participants of the Forum will have a chance of establishing contact with over 40 Scandinavian representatives of film funds, television channels, film institutes, distributing companies.
Even though films produced in Scandinavia dominate at the festival, within the frames of the special screenings Polish features will not be missed. Bartek Konopka will present the case study of "Rabbit a la Berlin" (produced by MS Films, Anna Wydra), a 2010 short documentary film Oscar-nominee, co-financed by, among others, Finnish television channel YLE. There will be a supplement to the presentation: the screening of two films by Konopka "Rabbit a la Berlin" under artistic care of the Andrzej Wajda Film School and the feature film "Three for the Taking." The latter was produced by Wajda Studio within the frames of the 30 minutes programme. The screenings of both films and the lecture by Konopka will take place within the frames of the festival section "Student rendez-vous" which also includes the review "Student Shorts & Docs" - there are, among others, the following films produced by Wajda Studio in the review: the documentaries "Decrescendo" by Marta Minorowicz and "Oh my God, my dear God" by Julia Popławska. Apart from this, within the frames of the "Short matters!" review organised by European Film Academy you can also watch the film by Piotr Bernaś: "Paparazzi" 2011 European Film Award nominee.
The participation of the Polish Delegation in the Nordisk Forum is possible thanks to the financial support of Polish Film Institute.
