THE END OF AUGUST - FULL OF AWARDS

The last week of August brought more awards for our young filmmakers. At the festivals in Slovakia and Italy two fiction shorts were awarded - "Frozen Stories" and "Glasgow."

Last Sunday, 26th August, the first edition of the "Eastsider" festival, which presents 60 films in four programme sections, ended in Prešov in Slovakia. The cycle "Fresh Northern Wind," presenting the most important films produced in Poland in the recent years, was an important event on schedule. In the "Rising Stars" section, 15 etudes representing nine countries met - among them, the audience award winner, "Frozen Stories" by Grzegorz Jaroszuk, produced by the Polish National Film School in Łódź.

The following Monday ended the seventh edition of Italian festival Pentedattilo Film Festival, taking place in the picturesque landscape of Italian Calabria. There, in the competition a short fiction film by Piotr Subbotko - "Glasgow” was screened. The jury gave the film the second award in appreciation of its paste and interesting narration. Munka Studio in co-production of Wajda School are the producers of the film by Piotr Subbotko. There was another Polish film in the competition - an animated "Wings 3D" by Krzysztof Szafraniec.
