„THE FOURTH MAN” AWARDED AT CURTOCIRCUITO

On May 11th in Spanish Santiago de Compostella the winners of the 9th edition of Curtocircuito were announced. The only Polish film in the competition – a documentary “The Fourth Man” directed by Krzysztof Kasior received one of the top festival’s awards.

This year 30 films produced all over the world were screened in five sections of the international competition. The finalist were chosen out of more than 2100 submissions. Apart from the international section, films were awarded also in the categories of best regional and student film as well as in the Explora- Aqualogy competition. The most interesting Galician films produced lately in Spain were screened in frame of panorama programme. This years’ guest country at Curtocircuito was Romania.

The Jury of the international competition was unanimous when chose “The fourth man” to be awarded the best International Documentary Award. The film produced at Radio and Tv Department of the University of Silesia in Katowice is a confession of Zbigniew Balcerzak. It is his personal remorse for sins from his life which he has kept secret for nearly entire life. The film is divided into three parts: Winter, Summer, Archive. Winter is the time when Zbyszek is alone and he shares with us his thoughts on life. Summer is the time when he works with Afro-American Gustaw who wants to save up some money for studying.
