ANOTHER WIN FOR THE FILM "THE SISTERS"
This time, Michał Hytros' documentary was appreciated by the Jury of the Italian Apulia Film Fest.
Apulia Film Fest is a new Italian festival presenting the most interesting short films from around the world. The organizers focus on films born out of passion, bold but foremost made by young professionals.
The title of the best documentary went to the Polish production "The Sisters". The action of Michał Hytroś documentary takes place behind a mighty 800-year-old wall, in the oldest female cloistered convent in Poland - the Benedictine convent in Staniątki near Kraków. This is where the lives of 12 sisters, with an average age of 70, take place. Despite their old age and the world changing behind the wall at a crazy pace, every day they try to subordinate their lives to the rule "ORA et LABORA" invented over 10 centuries ago. Our heroines - sisters Anuncjata and Benedykta (in the monastery for 40 years), charmingly introduce us to the world behind the wall, tell about their lives and the decisions they made. They show us the monastic world with all its shades, completely devoid of stereotypes, often touching and funny at the same time. It is a film about silence told very loudly.
