Nela, a young Polish actress trying to build a life in Paris, moves from one temporary home to another. On her way to an audition, she calls her distant mother: learning that her little brother is getting a dog stirs memories of her mother’s absence in her own childhood. At the casting, she is asked to perform a happy family scene, but struggles to play along. Later that night, an encounter with a dog unexpectedly echoes their conversation.
