HELLO GRANDMA

POLISH TITLE: HALO BABCIU

The film is set in my house. The characters are: my husband, 1.5-year-old son, me and people whom we have communicated by phone with. The film tells the viewer about how the lockdown affected our marriage; how we went through various stages of isolation: from fear, through a sense of meaninglessness to changes affecting the basic relationship. Another equally important plot in the film are my telephone conversations with my grandmother about the topic of death itself. She tells us about her funeral plans, the photo chosen by her for her tombstone and how her mother and her grandparents had died. Together with my grandmother, I laugh at the absurdities of the whole virus-caused situation, I scream at her fearfully every time she breaks our safety rules we had told her, and later on we make up, sharing hope for our next family meeting. My little son, who yet discovers the world with his innocent joy and has good time in this forced closeness, is an important character in the film.
