AWARD FOR „FROZEN STORIES” AT AFI FEST

“Frozen stories” by Grzegorz Jaroszuk - a graduate of Polish National Film School in Łódź- that is already nominated to EFA, was awarded at American AFI FEST in Los Angeles last Thursday.

The first edition of AFI FEST, considered as one of the leading and the most prominent film festivals in US, took place in 1971, appearing back then as First Los Angeles International Film Exposition (Filmex). Ten years later festival, organized by American Film Institute, screened films at nine different locations in and around Hollywood. Today, films selected films are presented in ten extensive sections. The short programme of this year’s, 25th edition of the festival, was composed of 35 films. Apart from awarded “Frozen stories” also Quay Brothers' latest, 20 minutes-long animation “Maska” got into to the competition.  

At the closing gala, that took place on Thursday at Roosvelt Hotel in Hollywood, “Frozen Stories” received the Grand Jury Prize for the Best Live Action Short. Award presented by American Film Institute qualifies the film for the Oscars Academy of Motion Picture Annual Awards.

„Frozen stories” were already screened abroad at Locarno Film Festival, Munich International Festival of Film Schools and in December is scheduled to be presented in the competition of International Short Film Festival in Belgian Leuven.
