BE SOMEBODY

POLISH TITLE: BYĆ KIMŚ

Together with his family, Wiktor moves into a recently bought flat, which turns out to have belonged to Lech Wałęsa, a symbol of freedom and a legend as a simple electrician who became Poland’s president many years ago. Today, numerous groups of people brought by curiosity and sympathy for the politician appear under the windows of the apartment located in an ordinary, grey housing estate built under communism. Can the new residents take advantage of it in any way? Wiktor’s wife comes up with a perverse idea and he soon learns what it is like to ‘be someone’. A year after the success of ‘A Dead Marriage’ at the Krakow Film Festival (and elsewhere), the film director and screen writer, Michał Toczek, returns with another story about human needs, concerns and dreams, which is warm and full of humour.
