ALCIBIADES

POLISH TITLE: ALKIBIADES

The story of Alcibiades focuses on a historical figure, a Greek general, known in antiquity for his treacherous ambition. Alcibiades was the student of several famous teachers, and amongst them Socrates. Before becoming this important political figure he was in desperate need for love and approval, which is at the core of the idea of our film. I wanted to shed light on abusive authority in educational institutions and the way it shapes relationships between young people. Having witnessed and experienced this kind of violence and never speaking up, I believed it important to show in a film how the pursuit of approval can lead to betrayal and treason.
