POLISH TITLE: SASZKA

In the 1990s, in a small Polish town, a young Ukrainian named Saszka gets a message about the death of the man with whom she entered into a sham marriage a long time ago. When the police start asking uncomfortable questions, the memories and faces from the past return to her. With great attention to visual details, including realistic photographs and sets, the film tells the story of finding one’s own way and making a definite closing of some chapters of one’s life.

Katarzyna Lesisz – born in 1985, in Warsaw. Graduated from Applied Social Sciences at the University of Warsaw in 2012. She is currently a 5th year student of film directing at the National Film School in Lodz, working on her diploma movie ‘Sashka’, based on a short novel written by Etgar Keret.

Her latest fiction movie ‘Our little game’ won Best Picture Award at 13th Student Film Festival Lodzia Po Wisle, 2015. It was also screened at last Short Film Corner at Cannes Film Festival, Polish Film Festival in Seattle (USA), Gdynia Film Festival (the biggest polish film festival in Poland). Local audiences have also had a chance to watch it at such film events as Off Cinema, Koszalin Mlodzi i Film.
