OUT OF THE BLUE

POLISH TITLE: BUDZIK

Story of Cyprian, Filip, Ola and Kuba – four, out of fifteen of young patients who are in a long-term coma. Their parents are determined to help the and bring them back to life. The film presents an unusual story of people, who are not giving up in the face of tragedy. They are filled with hope and fight for the health of their children at the “Alarm Clock” clinic located near Warsaw.

Piotr Małecki »

Photographer and filmmaker, Wajda School graduate, and winner of numerous Polish and international awards. His documentaries, supported by Canal+ and PISF, premiered at DOK Leipzig and KFF. His work has appeared in The New York Times and The Guardian. Member of Panos Pictures and founder of Short Docs Media. He lectured at the Lodz Film School and Warsaw University. From 2016–2025, he served as a Canon Ambassador. He masterfully blends reportage with documentary film.
