Mateusz Bednarkiewicz

Film and theatre artist Mateusz Bednarkiewicz is a director and screenwriter. He graduated in philosophy from the University of Warsaw and from the Aleksander Zelwerowicz National Academy of Dramatic Art. He has collaborated with a number of theatres, including Studio Theatre in Warsaw, Teatr Polski in PoznaƄ and Teatr Dramatyczny in Warsaw. He co-wrote Warsaw, which won the Golden Lion for Best Screenplay at the 2003 Polish Film Festival in Gdynia and was nominated for the Eagle, awarded by the Polish Film Academy, that same year. His Feinweinblein (2016), directed for television, won him a director’s award at the 2017 Teatroteka Fest. He has directed theatre productions based on works by Büchner, Chekhov, and Conrad, amongst others. Mateusz Bednarkiewicz is a member of the Polish Film Academy and the European Film Academy.
