WORLD PREMIERE OF GRZEGORZ ZARICZNY’S “CRAB” IN THE USA

"Crab", the latest film by Grzegorz Zariczny, will have its world premiere at the 18th Burbank International Film Festival in California. The event will take place from 2 to 8 August 2026 in Burbank, a city neighbouring Los Angeles and strongly associated with the American film industry.

The film was created as an independent initiative by students of the Acting Department at Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow University, as part of the Film Acting Workshop led by Grzegorz Zariczny. Its world premiere at the Burbank festival will offer an opportunity to present the project to an international audience and to a community centred around independent cinema.

Burbank International Film Festival is one of California’s significant events dedicated to independent filmmaking. Each year, its programme features more than 120 films from around the world, including fiction films, documentaries, animations and short films. The festival is accompanied by meetings with filmmakers, industry panels, networking events, a red carpet and an awards gala. BIFF’s mission is to support independent artists, promote diverse perspectives and create a space for exchange between filmmakers from different countries.

The protagonist of Crab is Basia, who lives in a single-family house with a divorced man and his child. When her partner leaves with his daughter, Basia is left alone. She is unexpectedly visited by Mateusz, her childhood friend, who has nowhere to stay after breaking up with his boyfriend. The day they spend together forces Basia to confront an event from her past that she has never told him about.
