FILMS BY TERESA CZEPIEC AT THE SPECIAL SCREENING IN TRIBECA FILM CENTER IN NEW YORK
On Tuesday, September 1, in Tribeca Film Center in New York, there will be a special screening of the films by Teresa Czepiec, at which two short documentary films made by the director will be shown: "Super Unit", "Rezonans" and the feature film "Test".
The production by Wajda Studio "Super Unit", by Teresa Czepiec, has already been shown at almost 20 international film festival around the world. It was given the best short documentary film award at the International Documentary Film Festival "It’s All True" in Brazil. The festival award-winners are automatically included in the list of films from among which the productions nominated for the Academy Awards in the Best Short Documentary category are selected. "It's All True" is the only festival in South America which has such status. The film had its American première at the Brooklyn Film Festival on 30 May 2015, and in June it won a special mention at the International Short Film Festival in Huesce in Spain.
Super Unit is an enormous block of flats, designed in accordance with the idea by Le Corbusier as a "machine for living." On 15 floors of the building, up to 13 thousand people can live. The lift stops every third floor, so the inhabitants have to go through a real labyrinth of corridors and stairs to reach their flats. The main protagonists of the film are people living inside the Super Unit and experiencing important moments of their lives there. Here, their emotions pulsate, expectations are born and dreams come true ... or not. 762 apartment doors and 762 stories. We open only some of them.
Three-minute long "Rezonans" tries to answer the question whether love can be scientifically examined. A group of scientists decides to find out using magnetic resonance. "Rezonans" is one of the parts of the series"8 filmów o miłości" (8 films about love), made by the graduates of the documentary film course at Wajda School.
The third presented film is the feature film produced by MD4, "Test". How to make sure that one has a fast developing career and to win the dreamt-of popularity? It can be helpful to visit the Research Institute of Success and Fame Potential, where Ana Sis, a young actress, goes. Ana undergoes a test which is supposed to evaluate her marketing potential. However, further attempts demand from her more and more sacrifices. Will she survive to the end of the test?
Tribeca Film Center is a film centre, established on the initiative of Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal in New York, where Tribeca Film Festival is held every year. The screening of the films by Teresa Czepiec was organised thanks to co-operation with Wajda School & Studio, Polish Film Institute and Polish Filmmakers NYC.
