“OUR CURSE” AWARDED AT THE IMAGINE SCIENCE FILM FESTIVAL

This evening, the 7th Annual Imagine Science Film Festival comes to an end. We already know its winners. One of them is “Our Curse” by Tomasz Śliwiński, honoured by the jury with the Nature Scientific Merit Award.

Last month has been a special time for the documentary “Our Curse” by Tomasz Śliwiński. The film has been shown at a record-breaking number of film festivals and continues to win awards one after the other. Yesterday, on 23 October, the number of awards for “Our Curse” increased by one: Nature Scientific Merit Award for “the film that best exemplifies science in narrative filmmaking in a compelling, credible and inspiring manner”. This award for Śliwiński was given by the jury of the 7th Annual Imagine Science Film Festival, consisting of: Dr James Watson, Marina Abramović, Karen Cooper, Dr. David Chalmers, Rachel Sussman and Dustin Yellin.

The director of "Our Curse," Tomasz Śliwiński, documents the first months of his family's life after the birth of the child. The boy is ill with a very rare, incurable disease, called Ondine's Curse (congenital central hypoventilation syndrome, CCHS). People afflicted with this disease stop breathing during sleep and require life-long use of respirator to support their respiratory functions.
