THE ANIMATION BY KAROLINA SPECHT AWARDED IN ROMANIA

Among the winners of the 9th edition of the Romanian Animation Film Festival Anim’est there is Polish animated film etude, "An Incredibly Elastic Man" by Karolina Specht. The film was given the Special Mention in the student film category.

At Anim’est, the films are shown every year in six competition sections - feature-length and short film section, Romanian film, student film, advertising film and films produced in the Balkan countries. Every year, the festival can boast a rich programme of workshops, meetings and other accompanying events.  The festival was held for the first time in 2006, and this year’s edition took place from 3 to 12 October.

On the last day of the festival, at the closing gala, "An incredibly elastic man" by Karolina Specht was given the Special Mention in the student film category. The film by Specht is a story of a man who was born without his own shape.  He rebels against constant deformations and being forced into somebody else’s forms. Is it possible to live totally independent of others and be detached from reality?

Karolina Specht is a third year student of Animation at Lodz Film School. This year her film won the Best Student Film Award at the Fest Anca festival in Slovakia. This month, “An Incredibly Elastic Man” will screen at the following festivals DOK Leipzig, CinEast, Uppsala ISFF and Primanima.

In addition to the award-winning animated film by Karolina Specht, seven other Polish films participated in the competition section at the 9th edition of the Anim’est festival - “To Thy Heart” by E. Borysewicz, “Darling” by I. Plucińska, “Ars moriendi” by M. Margański, “Hippos” by P. Dumała, “Baths” by T. Ducki, “Toto” by Z. Czapla and “Danse macabre” by M. Rżanek.
