FIFTEEN POLISH FILMS IN THE PROGRAMME OF DOK. LEIPZIG!

This year, the programmers of DOK. Leipzig invited nine Polish documentary films and six animations to participate in the festival. Additional ten films will participate in DOK. Market, within the frames of the Polish Docs programme, and another six - in the DOK. Incubator, DOK. Leipzig Net Lab and DOK. Leipzig Co-Production Meeting workshops.

The next, 57th edition of the DOK. Leipzig film festival will start on 27 October and will last until 2 November. Every year, Polish documentary and animated films are well-represented at the festival. Now, it is no different. The audience in Leizpig will have a chance to watch nine Polish documentaries and six animations this year.

The latest documentary film by Zuzanna Solakiewicz, "15 corners of the world," will participate in the International Competition Documentary Film. “Starting Point” by Michał Szcześniak will compete in the International Short Documentary Competition. It will be the international premiere of the film.

Other documentaries qualified for the competition sections of the festival, are “6 Degrees” by Bartosz Dombrowski, which will be screened within the frames of the Young Cinema Competition, and the Polish-German co-production “Domino Effect” by Elwira Niewiera and Piotr Rosołowski, invited by the programmers to take part in the German Competition.

In the non-competitive International Programme Documentary Film, the following films will participate: “Super Unit” by Teresa Czepiec, “One Man Show" by Jakub Piątek and “Walking under Water" by Eliza Kubarska. For the first two of the aforementioned films, the screening in Leizpig will be their international premiere. The film “One Man Show” is also nominated for the Healthy Workplaces Film Award. It is a special award given by European Agency for Safety and Health in Work, granted to films dealing with work-related topics.

The film “Leaders” by Paweł Ferdek will take part in the non-competitive section Kids DOK and "I am Kuba" by Åse Svenheim Drivenes - in the Special Screening MDR.

Polish productions will be also present in the animated film sections. In the International Competition Animated Film, four films will compete for the Golden Dove award - the latest animation by Ewa Borysewicz, “To Thy Heart,” student animation “An Incredibly Elastic Man” by Karolina Specht, “under_construction” by Marcin Wojciechowski and “Blue Room” by Tomasz Siwiński. In addition, in the non-competitive International Programme Animated Film, the animation “Of A Forest” by Katarzyna Melnyk will be screened. It will be the international premiere of the film. In the Anima for Kids section "Hee Hee Hatty" by Bogna Sroka-Mucha, directed by Tomasz Głodek will take part.

All films qualified for the participation in the festival will be available in the digital video library of the DOK. Market. As every year, within the frames of the Polish Docs programme, also ten Polish documentary films selected by Krakow Film Foundation will participate in the market.

Moreover, six Polish documentary film projects in production will be presented at DOK.Leipzig. In this year’s edition of the DOK. Incubator workshops participates the Polish-German project “The queen of silence,” produced by Chilli Productions, HBO Poland, ma.ja.de and ARTE/ZDF. The third, last session of the workshops will be held within the frames of DOK. Leipzig and will end with the presentation of the projects to the invited decision makers from the documentary industry, as well as one-to-one meetings.

In addition, within the frames of DOK. Incubator, the project “K2 Passage,” produced by Wajda Studio, will be presented. This project took part in the DOK. Restart workshops and Docs to go! presentation at the 54th Krakow Film Festival. It was chosen the best project of DOK. Restart and thanks to this, it will have a chance to be presented at DOK. Leipzig.

From among 36 projects, qualified for the participation in DOK.Leipzig Co-Production Meeting, there are three Polish films: “Ethiopiques – The Revolt of the Soul,” produced by Pokromski Studio, Polish-German “Johanna’s Secret,” produced by Arkadia Film, and Rohde-Dahl Filmproduktion and ”Staring at the sun,” produced by Impakt Film. The interactive project “Chronicles of change,” also produced by Impakt Film, will participate in DOK. Leipzig Net Lab.
