"THE SHADOW FOREST" AWARDED AT RHODE ISLAND FESTIVAL

At the 18th edition of the American Rhode Island IFF, which finished on Sunday, Polish student etude "The Shadow Forest" was awarded. The awards were given in 30 categories.

The film etude made by the cinematographer Andrzej Cichocki received the Best Editing award. The film's editor is Cezary Grzesiuk, who previously worked among others on short films "Climax" by Grażyna Trela and "The Return" by Ewa Bukowska. Grzesiuk works as an editor of feature films as well. He constantly co-operates with Andrzej Jakimowski.

"The Shadow Forest"
is an etude that was made by Andrzej Cichocki at the Radio and Television Faculty of the University of Silesia in Katowice.

A poacher faces the wolf he was tracking down when he suddenly hears the sounds of a gunshot. The man sees frightened people, running away. Meanwhile, one of the people who are running away is lost in the forest - it is a little boy. Even the wolves can sense the oncoming danger.

Rhode Island is one of the ten most important international festivals in the United States. It is one of the nineteen festivals which are accredited by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The winners in the short film category have an easier way of applying for Academy Award nomination. In the programme of this year's edition of RIIFF, there were 250 films produced in 62 countries. This year, a record-breaking number of films was submitted to participate in the festival: 5,400.

Later this month, "The Shadow Forest" by Andrzej Cichocki will be shown at the Holly Shorts festival, which begins on 14th August in the United States.
