„FLORA AND FAUNA" WITH HONORABLE MENTION AT THE AUSTRIAN FESTIVAL

Last weekend ended the 28th edition of the Austrian festival Alpinale. Among the award-winning films, there is the graduation film by Piotr Litwin, "Flora and Fauna".

This year 34 short films - fiction, animated and documentary – produced all around the world were screened in the competitive section of the festival.  Apart from the award-winning "Flora and Fauna" by Litwin, two other Polish films participated in the same competition - the fiction film "The Mother" by Łukasz Ostalski and the animated "Lost Senses" by Marcin Wasilewski. The jury, consisting of five people, decided to give the Honorable Mention to the film by Litwin.

Since its première at the film festival in Trieste this January, "Flora and Fauna" has been invited to numerous festivals. In June, the fiction film by Litwin won one of the main awards of the 17th  edition of the Egyptian festival in Ismailia. The honorable mention from Austria increases the number of awards for the film. This autumn, the film will be shown at next festivals.

Jan (56), a comprehensive school teacher, decides to buy the virginity of a young teenager. Marysia (15), decides to sell her first night with a man. Jan and Marysia meet in a hotel to complete the agreement, but due to a temporary impotence of Jan, the intercourse does not take place. Jan unsuccessfully tries to negotiate a refund of money he paid for the hotel. Frustrated, he leaves without a word. During the day, when the emotions subside, Jan realises that he paid Marysia for something he did not get from her. Jan and Marysia meet again.

Litwin is a graduate of Directing at Lodz Film School. He wrote the script of his diploma feature film together with Klara Kochańska.

This year's edition of the festival took place from 6 to 10 August in Nenzing.
